The Republican mantra during the midterm elections last November was “JOBS, JOBS, JOBS” by way of fixing the economy; and yet, as MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow keeps pointing out night after night on her show, all the Republicans seem to be fixating on the past couple of weeks are stricter anti-abortion laws. I do think there’s some method to this GOP madness.
If we get more BABIES, BABIES, BABIES, then there will be more JOBS, JOBS, JOBS for baby-sitters, to say nothing of all the industries related to the care and feeding of babies. So let’s not pooh-pooh the ability of baby wipes to power up small business even as the bottom falls out of our economy. It’ll be a new day for the Grand Old Poop.

I’m hooked on MSNBC, which bills itself as “The Place For Politics.” But why is it that, whenever HARDBALL with Chris Matthews, COUNTDOWN with Keith Olbermann or THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW aren’t on the air after 10 PM at night, or on weekends, the programming inadvertently turns to something called LOCKUP, a prison documentary about hardened criminals? Is this a portent of things to come in politics? Is it just a matter of time before LOCKUP starts featuring senators and congressmen who ought to be in jail for defending oil companies because they get Big Payments from them? Or for sexually practising in private what they condemn sanctimoniously in public? Or maybe just for sheer insufferable incivility towards the rightfully elected President and Commander-in-Chief of these United States?

These days, on television, I mostly watch only MSNBC because, as per their slogan, it’s “The Place for Politics.” But, since noon of yesterday, the station has been featuring Michael Jackson non-stop. His many fans should be thrilled that, somewhere from the great beyond, Michael’s countenance has now morphed into “The Face for Politics.”
